Top Cash Back Apps

We love using our mobile devices every day. Did you know you can earn money using your device when you shop?

In this post I’ll be writing about my favorite cash back apps or sites.

Using apps like these will earn you cash back for shopping online or for scanning your receipt when you purchase in-store.

I am not including the apps that pay you to grocery shop for others, I will only include cashback apps on this list.

These are cashback apps, so you will have to spend first then save money by getting cashback.

Some of the apps, you could also call mobile couponing apps.

Do spend only on things that you already buy on a regular monthly basis and save on those purchases.

The goal is to save on purchases you are already making and probably need every month, please never buy something that you don’t need just to earn cashbacks.

You will earn the cash backs in addition to your credit card rewards if you’re utilizing those cards.

Some of these apps will require you to sync to your credit card to track your spending and your cash back.

There are a lot of ways to get cash backs.

These apps or sites are free to join, in fact some of them will even pay you to use their app as a new member. Some apps will require bonus codes to earn extra money.

You can choose to use all of these cash back apps to maximize your savings on your purchases.

 

Let’s get to the top cashback apps list:

 

1) Rakuten known before as Ebates

Rakuten has a website and an app available for their users. Rakuten offers cash back of your online purchases.

Rakuten App is available for iOS and Android devices.

You need to purchase through their website or their app to get your cash back. You can get up to 40% cash back for your purchases.

They also offer in-store cash back at participating brick-and-mortar stores by linking your credit card.

You can also earn cash back when you take a ride with Lyft.

Rakuten has partnered with over 2,500 retailers where you can earn cash back.

No points system, you’ll earn USD. You can get your cash via PayPal or Check. The minimum payout is $5.

Rakuten is free to join. With Rakuten you get Free $10 to join after your first purchase of at least $25 through Rakuten.

2) Ibotta

Ibotta is an app available for iOS and Android users. It is an app where you choose products from their list of offers and get cash back when you purchase the product in-store.

You’ll need to take a picture of your receipt to proove that you really bought the product on the offer list. (So don’t throw your receipts).

Also note that there are items that you need to take a picture of the bar code.

You can also link your rewards card to Ibotta so you don’t have to deal with the hassle of taking pictures. Offers will auto redeem within 48 hours.

You can also shop online through the Ibotta app and earn cash back by shopping online.

There is a minimum of $20 to cash out.

The payout is via PayPal or through gift cards. I use the PayPal cash out method for Ibotta.

3) Fetch Rewards

Fetch rewards is an app available for Android and iOS users. Another cash back app and this one requires you to take a picture of your receipt.

The process is easier than Ibotta, cause with Fetch rewards it doesn’t matter which store you bought the product offer as long as your bought the branded product on their offer list.

You don’t verify each product offer like Ibotta, just take a picture of the receipt and the app does the rest.

You earn points for each receipt you submit. You’ll earn bonus points if your bought a branded product on their offer list.

You can redeem your points for a variety of gift cards. I redeem my points for the $3 Amazon gift card which is the minimum amount you can redeem for.

4) Receipt Hog

The Receipt Hog app is available for Android and iOS. This app is also simple to use.

This is like Fetch Rewards, but your earnings will depend on how much you spend and pays no regard to whatever you are purchasing.

You earn coins for your receipt which you can exchange for PayPal cash or an Amazon gift card. I choose PayPal cash for redeeming on this app.

The minimum amount you can redeem for is $5 for 1,000 coins.

5) Checkout 51

The Checkout 51 app is available for Android and iOS users. They also have a website available. This app is almost like Ibotta.

With Checkout 51 you’ll have to look through the product offers on the app and choose which product offers you would like to redeem for.

You’ll also need to scan barcodes on some of the products. Read the offer details carefully so you get credit on that purchase.

You’ll also need to take pictures of your receipt with Checkout 51.

The minimum amount you can redeem for is $20 which you can only get via check.

6) TopCashback

TopCashback claims to have the highest cashbacks site online. Cashback ranging from 1% up to as high as 70%.

You can shop through the TopCashback website available online. They also have a mobile app available of Android and iOS.

TopCashback has partnered with over 4,400 online stores to offer discounts on your online purchases. And when you shop, TopCashback earns commissions on your purchase.

They then pass some of the commissions to their members as cashback. You get credit as long as you don’t return the product you purchased.

TopCashback is free to join. There are no minimum payouts, you can get paid whenever you want.

They give out a payout bonus when you redeem your cashback as Visa prepaid card, Amazon gift card, or American Express rewards card.

Other payment method available includes: PayPal cash and Direct deposit through ACH.

7) Swagbucks

Swagbucks is a get-paid-to site. You can earn from a lot of variety of ways. You can do offers, surveys, paid to search, paid to watch, play games and so many more.

You can also get cashbacks for shopping online and in-store via Swagbucks.

Screenshot below shows where you can access the shop to earn option of Swagbucks from the main menu.

You could get up to 10% cashback from purchasing through Swagbucks online.

You can also get some cash back in-store. You will need to link your card for this. You then add offers before you visit the store, shop using the linked card and earn cashback.

Add the SwagButton for free on Chrome and you can shop directly at your favorite online stores and you’ll get a notification to activate SB cash back automatically.

You’ll earn points called SBs on Swagbucks and 100 SBs is equivalent to about $1. You can redeem your SBs for various gift cards, PayPal cash, and Visa rewards card.

You could redeem a $1 Amazon gift card for 160 SB. I usually redeem the $3 Amazon gift card for 300 SB. You can get discounts when you redeem for higher amounts.

The minimum cash out for PayPal is 700 SB for $5, you can choose to save up your SBs for the $25 PayPal cash out for 2,500 SB.

8) InboxDollars

This is another get-paid-to site like Swagbucks. They are known for paying users to read emails (hence InboxDollars).

On the main menu of the website, there is a tab for Shopping > Cash Back Shopping.

You can earn up to 10% cash back for your online purchases. There is also a coupon printing option that allows you to print manufacturer coupons you can use in-store.

InboxDollars has a very high minimum cashout of $30. This means you have to earn $30 before you can redeem your cash from your InboxDollars account.

They also take a processing fee when you cashout which they also give back as bonus to your account afterwards. They want you to keep using their platform.

You can withdraw for PayPal cash, gift cards or Check in the mail.

9) Pei

Pei is a cash back app where you set it up and just forget it. I guess you only have to come back to see if your purchase made any cashbacks.

An automatic cashback app available on Android and iOS devices.

How Pei works starts with linking your debit or credit card to your Pei account. Shop using that linked card and earn up to 20% cashback when you shop with one of their partner retailers.

Pei has partnered with thousands of retailers from Target, Trader Joe’s, Sephora, Starbucks, and so many more.

Pei uses bank level encryption to protect your information. So you don’t have to worry on linking your cards.

Minimum cash out is at $25. Payment options available: PayPal, gift cards, or Bitcoins.

10) Drop

This is a cashback app almost similar to Pei. The app is available to Android and iOS users.

With the Drop app you can earn cashback when you link your debit or credit card to your Drop account. Earn your cashback when you shop using the linked card.

You can earn around 1% to 2% cashback on your purchases.

Before, you can add up to 5 stores (where you can earn cash back), now you can only add 2 favorite stores. You also have the option to shop in-app from their brand partners to earn cashback.

You earn Drop points with this app and 1,000 Drop points is about $1.

The minimum amount to be able to redeem is $5 for 1 of the gift cards. The minimum for an Amazon gift card is $20 for 20,000 points.

You can redeem your points for various gift cards.

You can use this app together with Pei to instantly double your cashback.

11) Dosh

The Dosh app works just like the Pei and Drop apps. Another automatic cashback app available for Android and iOS users.

You will need a working phone number to verify your account when you first open the app.

You earn cashback when you purchase from one of their partner retailers using your linked credit card.

You can also earn cashback when you shop online through their app.

You need a minimum of $25 to cash out with Dosh. You can send your money to either your PayPal or bank account.

12) BeFrugal

BeFrugal works just like Rakuten and TopCashback. You shop through their online portal and get cash back when you purchase anything through their link.

BeFrugal is available online through their website and they also have a mobile app available to Android and iOS users.

You can earn up to 40% cash back from their partner retailers. BeFrugal has partnered with over 5,000 big name stores like Amazon, Walmart and Target.

BeFrugal also has a browser extension available on Chrome or Firefox that you can choose to install.

The minimum cashout for BeFrugal is $25 and you can receive your earned cash through: PayPal, bank direct deposit, gift cards, or a traditional check.

13) Freebird

This is a free app you can use to get cashback when you use Uber and Lyft rideshare and dining out. Available for Android and iOS users.

When you open the Freebird app you will link your Uber or Lyft account, you can only use one connected account at a time but you can switch between the 2 at any time.

The app will ask for a promo code, you can use my code: ma4ca to earn bonus $5 for each of your first two rides (total of $10).

You’ll also need to link your card to Freebird so that you earn cashback when you dine out. When you open the app, you will see restaurants labeled with $4 or $5 on the map, if you go to that place and spend using the linked card you get the $4 or $5 as cashback.

You earn points for rideshares and you earn cashback for visiting local places and using your linked card for your transactions.

You can earn 250 to 500 points back per ride and 5,000 points is equivalent to $10.

You can redeem your rewards via cash transfer direct to your checking account, you just have to link a debit card. There is no minimum to cash out.

14) ReceiptPal

ReceiptPal app is available for iOS and Android users. ReceiptPal lets you earn from your receipts by taking pictures of it just like Receipt Hog.

ReceiptPal only supports smartphones, you can’t use iPads or tablets for this app.

You can also get cashbacks when you connect your Amazon account or your email and let the app scan your electronic receipts. You can connect up to 3 emails to your account. This feature makes it an automatic cashback app like Pei.

Emails eligible for connection: AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook and Yahoo.

You earn points on ReceiptPal and you can exchange these points for gift cards.

You get free 150 points when you confirm you email and free 500 points when you link your email to the app when you first open the app. You’ll also earn 300 bonus points when you link your Amazon account to ReceiptPal.

You earn 100 points for taking a picture of 4 receipts. This is roughly around $0.05 per receipt submitted.

The minimum you can redeem for an Amazon gift card is $5 for 2,200 points and you have to unlock rewards. You can unlock Level 1 rewards by connecting your email for 30 days.

15) Shopkick

This app is available on Android and iOS devices.

With Shopkick you’ll earn points they call as kicks. You can then redeem your kicks for free gift cards or PayPal cash.

Shopkick will give you kicks for walking in to stores, barcode product scans, taking a pic of your receipts, purchases via linked card, online purchases, and watching in-app videos.

You can earn kicks in-store and online.

1,250 kicks will get you a $5 gift card. And there are a lot of gift cards to choose from like Walmart, Target, Starbucks, Sephora etc.
