Receipt Hog – Receipts to Cash is a cash back app like Ibotta and Checkout 51. But unlike the other 2 apps, this app is so much simpler to use.
This free to download application turns receipts into cash as they claim.
In this Receipt Hog review, I will tell you what Receipt Hog is all about, how to join, how to earn, how to redeem your earned cash and I will tell you whether Receipt Hog is legit or not.

What is Receipt Hog?
Receipt Hog is basically an app that rewards users or members for uploading the pictures of their receipt. This app is made by ScoutIt Inc. on Google Play or InfoScout on iTunes which is probably a marketing research company.
Companies pay the makers of Receipt Hog for the info they collect about what consumers buy by looking at the submitted receipts.
Receipt Hog users get a share of the money that companies pay to Receipt Hog App makers.
How To Join Receipt Hog?
First download the free application from Google Play on Android and iTunes for Apple devices.
Then register for an account.
When I registered for an account with Receipt Hog, I was put on a wait list. I waited for a few months just to get to use this app.
This application really does turn receipts to cash. It is easy to earn too and I’ll show you how below.
How Does Receipt Hog Work?
Just take a picture of your receipt, and that’s it. The picture of the receipt must include the store name, purchased item/s, purchase date, and the total of the payment.
They give coins (with a picture of a hog) for your uploaded receipt and you can convert these coins for either PayPal cash or an Amazon Gift Card.
The minimum payout threshold is $5 for 1000 coins and can go up to $40 for 6500 coins. This is roughly 162.5 to 200 coins per $1.
For every receipt you’ll get 1 sweepstakes entry.
You can earn coins for receipts from groceries, health items, beauty products, etc. bought from Supermarkets, Convenience stores, Supercenters, Club stores, Liquor stores, Dollar stores, Pet supply stores, Toy stores, Drug stores, Beauty stores and Health stores.
The coins earned will depend on the receipt total.
Receipt Total To Coins Earned:
- <$10 = 5 coins
- $10 to $50 = 10 coins
- $50 to $100 = 15 coins
- >$100 = 20 coins
You can also earn spins at the Hog Slots. You can earn spins for receipts coming from Clothing, Closeout stores, Electronics, Office Supply, Books, Sporting Goods, Arts and Crafts, Home Improvement, Home Furnishings, All Other Non-Coin earning stores.
Examples: Sears, Old Navy, BestBuy, HomeDepot, Macys, Staples, Kohl’s, GameStop, O’Reilly Auto Parts, etc. At Hog Slots you can win coins.
There is a limit of 20 qualifying Spin-receipt uploads per week. I have once won 400 coins from the Hog Slots.
Examples of Receipts that will not be rewarded by Receipt Hog:
- receipt of your friends
- service invoices
- hand-written receipts
- movie tickets
- receipts w/o items
- receipts > 2 weeks old
Redeeming in Receipt Hog:
I cash out with PayPal. You need to verify a number code that is sent to your registered phone number every time you cash out.
I’ve cashed out 3 times already and I can assure you that they do pay. They usually pay within 7 days.
Is Receipt Hog Legitimate?
In my opinion Receipt Hog is legit. Receipt Hog has paid out to my PayPal account every time I redeem. I usually redeem at $5 PayPal cash for 1000 coins.
Roughly every month I earn $5 PayPal cash from my grocery shopping. That’s free $5 every month for doing my groceries and taking pictures of my receipts.
Earnings may depend on your grocery habits though. If you shop and spend a lot, you earn more. Earn more by joining other cash back apps like the ones that I will list below.
Receipt Hog does have a wait list before you can join as one of their users.
